Sawston Church

Sawston Church in Cambridgeshire has a lot of churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Sawston is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been plummeting for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once every month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the basis for the decline is in simple terms that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Sawston community then it's truly shocking figures are going down. Surely we all want our Sawston to be a good location to be alive, where inhabitants get along, they assist one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Sawston church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly a soul desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, considering his anti-gay rhetoric in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful position to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
