Huntingdon Church

Huntingdon Church in Cambridgeshire has various churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Huntingdon is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the grounds for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Huntingdon community then it's really amazing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Huntingdon to be a good place to dwell, where people get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Huntingdon church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, considering his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good place to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
