Chatteris Church

Chatteris Church in Cambridgeshire has several churches for various religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Chatteris is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once every month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the basis for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Chatteris community then it is really shocking figures are going down. Surely we all want our Chatteris to be a good place to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Chatteris church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, feeble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful position to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
