Twyford Church

Twyford Church in Berkshire has various churches for various religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Twyford is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the basis for the decline is in simple terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Twyford community then it is truly remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Twyford to be a fantastic spot to live, where persons get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Twyford church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-homosexual speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
