Stotfold Church

Stotfold Church in Bedfordshire has a lot of churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Stotfold is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been falling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace attending at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the rationale for the decline is in simple terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Stotfold community then it's actually astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Stotfold to be a wonderful place to inhabit, where individuals get along, they help each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Stotfold church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful position to be - a good space to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
